چکیده
Abstract This invited Team Profile was created by Kevin Li and Liliya Yatsunyk, Swarthmore College PA (USA) John Schneekloth, Jr, (Jay) National Cancer Institute, Frederick MD . They recently published an article on the first crystal structure of intercalated motif (i‐motif or iM) from HRAS oncogene involved in many cancers. The iHRAS solved to 1.8 Å resolution. It contains a tail‐to‐tail dimer two iMs each with six C−C + base pairs. is unique that only pairs out 20 are canonical. extensive network capping connecting interactions unprecedented. structural elements (loops/connecting region) may be targeted ligands proteins as cancer therapies. represents crystallized iM‐forming human promoter. “Crystal Structure iM Oncogene Promoter”, K. Persuading Voters ∗
We consider a symmetric information voting model where a group of uninformed voters must collectively choose a policy. An individual (information controller) can influence voters’ choices by designing the information content of a public signal. We characterize the controller’s optimal signal, and how it varies with the electoral rules and the distribution of voters’ preferences. We show that un...

Genomic approaches to the initiation of DNA replication and chromatin structure reveal a complex relationship.
The mechanisms regulating the coordinate activation of tens of thousands of replication origins in multicellular organisms remain poorly explored. Recent advances in genomics have provided valuable information about the sites at which DNA replication is initiated and the selection mechanisms of specific sites in both yeast and vertebrates. Studies in yeast have advanced to the point that it is ...
متن کاملSynthetic CpG islands reveal DNA sequence determinants of chromatin structure
The mammalian genome is punctuated by CpG islands (CGIs), which differ sharply from the bulk genome by being rich in G + C and the dinucleotide CpG. CGIs often include transcription initiation sites and display 'active' histone marks, notably histone H3 lysine 4 methylation. In embryonic stem cells (ESCs) some CGIs adopt a 'bivalent' chromatin state bearing simultaneous 'active' and 'inactive' ...
متن کاملNoncanonical views of homology-directed DNA repair.
DNA repair is essential to maintain genomic integrity and initiate genetic diversity. While gene conversion and classical nonhomologous end-joining are the most physiologically predominant forms of DNA repair mechanisms, emerging lines of evidence suggest the usage of several noncanonical homology-directed repair (HDR) pathways in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes in different contexts. Here we r...
